History and Tradition
Almist Sales Incorporated: Representing toy manufacturers for over half a century
In 1966 the toy sales company started by Paul Shapiro and Al Schiffman came into the marketplace and six years later became formally known as Shapiro & Schiffman. As an industry pioneer, Al Schiffman is credited as being the first toy representative to travel overseas and import toy products to the United States. Original imports included, but were not limited to, wooden benches, chairs, and highchairs. This opened the door to global relationships and Almist Sales has established successful partnerships that represent both national and international toy companies.
In 1970, sales representatives Mike McFadden Sr. joined Shapiro & Shiffman. His vision and salesmanship garnered trust and respect in the toy industry and he ultimately took ownership of the company in 1988. McFadden renamed the company Almist Sales and under his leadership, the company continued to prosper and expand. Of note, the respected and accomplished salesman Michael McFadden, Sr. was first to bring the Big Wheel to JC Penny and subsequently launched an entirely new category of wheeled goods. Another company milestone came in 1993 when Almist had the distinction of representing the newcomer, and innovative child learning system, LeapFrog. The partnership was instrumental in LeapFrog's prominent placement at Toys R Us and Almist Sales helped ensure the brand’s success by continuing to work with the product line for another twelve years. A hallmark of Almist's account management is brand building and the company has played an integral role in establishing many widely recognizable brands such as K'Nex, Radio Flyer, SwimWays, and LeapFrog.
The next generation of toy industry experts was found 24 years ago when partner Mike McFadden Sr. successfully convinced his son Michael McFadden Jr. to join his endeavor. As expected, Michael Jr. learned the business quickly and his addition to the sales force proved to be essential. Through newly forged relationships and excellent account management Michael Jr. brought companywide success. Ultimately his relationships with key mass market retailers has positioned Almist Sales for its latest strategic transition.
On April, 1 2013, Key Account Manager Michael McFadden Jr. took the helm of the prestigious and respected Almist Sales company. Utilizing more than two decades of acquired skills and knowledge, in conjunction with strong relationships at major retailers, Michael Jr. and Almist Sales is thriving. Continuously growing its list of manufacturers and fearlessly reinventing itself in today's dynamic business environment, Almist Sales fosters the growth and success of its toy manufacturers, retail partners, and itself. Poised to offer unparalleled Key Account Sales and Service, Almist Sales will continue to enjoy a successful presence in the manufacturers representative marketplace for years to come.
